A GOOD LIE?

Well... I think that I have hit an all time low today. My buddy I call LEBANONIAN is looking to go to Bible College so he can be a missionary musician. He is applying to go to Moody Bible Institute and he asked me to fill out a "Confidential: Friend’s Reference Form (MALE)". I wonder why the male and female reference forms are different... hmm, odd. Makes my mind wander in thoughts of what the differences in the questions are.

Ok back to the point. There are some questions on this form that I know if I answered "truthfully" my dear friend LEBANONIAN would be denied with a capital D. So in essence I am lying to get my buddy into Bible school... what type of crap is that? Will I get struck down as soon as I place my pen on the sheet of paper? This is almost as bad as when I screamed profanity while in my car just prior to a prayer. Do I sign the sheet or not people!?

Well I suppose it depends on what those questions are and how you feel about his choice, if you think it's really from his heart, etc.

I think you should view this as an oppertunity for him to change. If he goes to a Christian college and is constantly surrounded by other Christians, then the way he acts will change. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." We all have a past, should our past keep us from having the oppertunity to be something that can be used for His glory?

I think the consensus at this point is doing it. But also I think the dynamic is such that he has a good heart I just strongly disagree with a choice he is making. In his opinion he is doing nothing wrong. I make a point to be there for all of my friends no matter what the cost. And I think it's stupid that the college even has this "survey", I mean A: Why filter out people just because of mistakes they made or are making, isn't that the whole point, Gods mercy? B: The applicant is only going to give the sheet to friends he knows will fill the stupid thing without any blemishes. Ok I'll do it.

Bible college makes me think of Austrailia and nomads. Simply because I knew a girl who went to bible in austrailia and they moved around a lot.
But anyway. Hey, lie for him. I mean, do you really think Billy Graham never had anyone lie for him on anything?
Then again, by making this entry, they might stumble upon it, recognize your name in their recommendations, and sue you or something equally dramtic.
It's alright, dude. I'm here for you. Way down here in good old Central LA.

That survey thing is odd enough that I wouldn't care about lying on it! Too bad that Bible College can't say "well, maybe this person did some not-so-great things, but he must want to do something good since he's applying to Bible College. This is a great chance for us to mold another life." Not everyone starts out making the best choices. Reminds me of Mike Yaconelli's book, Messy Spirityality.
